Use the File Manager
The File Manager lets you work with your files in the browser, with no SFTP app needed. Open your hosting account and click File Manager. It opens in your primary domain's public_html folder; the path at the top takes you back to your home folder.
What you can do
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Open a folder | Click its name. Up goes one level back. |
| New folder / new file | Folder and File in the toolbar |
| Upload files | Upload, or drag files onto the list |
| Upload a whole folder | Upload folder, or drag the folder onto the list |
| Edit a file | The edit icon on the file's row. Click Save when done. |
| Download | The download icon on the file's row |
| Rename | The rename icon on the row |
| Delete | The trash icon on the row, or tick several and click Delete |
Limits
- Uploads: up to 100 MB per file. For bigger files, use Connect with SFTP.
- Editing in the browser: files up to 3 MB.
- There's no zip/unzip, copy, move or permission (chmod) tool. Upload unpacked files, or use an SFTP app for those jobs.
Errors you might see
- "Cannot write file (check permissions / quota)": usually your disk quota is full. See Disk Quota and Usage.
- "A file or folder with that name already exists": pick another name or delete the old one first.
Deleting is permanent. If you remove something by mistake, the nightly backup can bring it back; see Backups and Downloading a Backup.
