Backups and Downloading a Backup
What's backed up, and when
- Every night at 03:30 UTC, automatically.
- Contents: all your files (every domain, logs, Git repositories) plus a full dump of every database on the account.
- Kept: the last 7 daily, 4 weekly and 3 monthly backups.
- Backups are encrypted and stored on separate storage, not on your hosting server.
Backup Now
Before a big change such as an update or a migration, open Backups and click Backup Now. It appears in the list as Manual once complete.
Download a backup
- Open Backups and click Download on the backup you want.
- The row shows Preparing… while it is packed into a
.tar.gzfile. - When it's ready, click the .tar.gz link to download it.
- The prepared file is stored in your account's
backups/folder until the next download replaces it, and it counts towards your disk quota. Delete it with the File Manager if space is tight. - Inside the archive you'll find your files and a
.sqldump per database.
Restoring
To roll your account back to a backup, contact support and tell us which backup (date and time) to restore. A restore replaces the account's current files and databases with the backup's.
To recover just one file or folder, download the backup and upload the part you need with SFTP or the File Manager.
