Connect with SFTP
SFTP is the fastest way to upload a whole website. It works with any SFTP app, such as FileZilla, WinSCP or Cyberduck, and with code editors like VS Code (SFTP extension).
Your login details
Open your hosting account and click SFTP. You'll find:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Host | The server address shown in the panel |
| Port | 22 |
| Protocol | SFTP (not FTP or FTPS) |
| Username | Your hosting username |
| Password | Click the eye icon to show it, or the copy icon to copy it |
FileZilla
- Open File → Site Manager → New site.
- Protocol: SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol.
- Enter the host and port 22, Logon Type Normal, then your username and password.
- Click Connect. Accept the server's key the first time.
Where to upload
Upload your website into domains/<your-domain>/public_html. See Folder Structure of a Hosting Account.
Changing the password
Click the rotate icon next to the password and type ROTATE to confirm. The old password stops working immediately, and open SFTP sessions must reconnect.
4 wrong passwords within 10 minutes block your IP for 30 minutes. Copy the password instead of typing it. If you're locked out, see SFTP Connection Problems and Unblock My IP.
SFTP gives file access only; there's no shell (SSH command line). For automated tasks use Schedule Cron Jobs; for deployments use Deploy Your Site with Git.
