Frequently asked questions
What is a DNS record?
A DNS record maps a domain name to information about it — most commonly an IP address (A and AAAA records), a mail server (MX), or arbitrary text used for verification and email policy (TXT).
What does the TTL mean?
TTL is "time to live" in seconds: how long a resolver is allowed to cache the record before asking again. A record with a TTL of 3600 can be served from cache for up to an hour after you change it.
Why do I see a different answer than my computer does?
Your operating system and router cache DNS responses. This tool queries a public resolver directly, so it often sees a change before your own machine does.
