Add a Domain — You Manage Your Own DNS
Keep your DNS where it is and just point records at our edge. Your origin server IP stays hidden behind the CDN, and we issue SSL for you automatically.
Before you start
The domain must already be in your account — register it, or add it under Domains with the “I manage my own DNS” option.
Steps
- Open your hosting account → Domains → Add Domain.
- Set Type to Addon domain and pick your domain from the list.
- At your DNS provider, add the records shown on the domain row: an A record for the root and for www (both pointing at the edge IP shown), and a CNAME for
_acme-challenge(to the value shown, ending incdnval.cdnshark.com). - Once the records are live, click Verify & activate.
What happens
- The A records send visitors through our CDN edge — your real server IP is never exposed.
- The _acme-challenge CNAME lets us issue and renew SSL automatically, without ever touching the rest of your DNS.
- You keep full control of your DNS; we never change any of your other records.
