Clear the CDN Cache for Your Sites
The CDN keeps copies of your site's files (images, CSS, JavaScript and cacheable pages) close to your visitors. After you change something, visitors may see the old copy until it expires. Clearing the cache makes every visitor get the new version straight away.
Steps
- Open your hosting account.
- Click the Clear Cache tile.
The cache is cleared for every domain on the account, including the www. versions. The confirmation says how many hostnames were cleared. The next visit to each page fetches it fresh from your hosting.
When to use it
- After changing a theme, CSS or JavaScript.
- After replacing an image with one of the same name.
- After changing a redirect (see Redirect a Domain), or after a Git deploy or rollback.
Good to know
- You can clear it up to 6 times a minute.
- If the message says some edge servers couldn't be reached, those keep the old copy until it expires naturally.
- Your browser has its own cache. If you still see the old version, try a private window or a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R, or Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac).
