Redirect a Domain
Send everyone who visits a domain to another address, for example an old domain to your new one.
Steps
- Open your hosting account → Domains.
- Click Redirect on the domain's row.
- Redirect to: the full destination, for example
https://new-site.com. - Type:
- Permanent (301): the move is final. Search engines move rankings to the new address.
- Temporary (302): for a short-term change, like a maintenance page.
- Keep the requested path: when ticked,
/aboutgoes tohttps://new-site.com/about. When not ticked, every page goes to the destination's home page. - Redirect the www version too: when ticked,
www.redirects as well. - Click Save redirect.
Good to know
- Your files stay in place. Click Remove redirect (or save with an empty address) and the site is back.
- The destination must be an
http://orhttps://address and can't be the domain itself. - The CDN may have cached the old pages. Use Clear the CDN Cache for Your Sites if visitors still see them.
