Add an Addon Domain or Subdomain
One hosting account can serve several websites. Each gets its own folder: domains/<name>/public_html.
Addon domain or subdomain?
| Addon domain | Subdomain | |
|---|---|---|
| Example | my-second-site.com | blog.example.com |
| Needs | The domain added to CDNShark first (Domains in the portal) | A domain you already have on this account |
| www | Served on both example.com and www.example.com | Only the subdomain itself |
| Limit | Your CDN plan's number of websites, plus any domain add-ons you bought | Your hosting plan's subdomain limit |
Steps
- Open your hosting account → Domains → Add Domain.
- Choose Addon domain — a new domain and pick the domain, or Subdomain — under a domain you already have and enter the label (for example
blog) and the parent domain. - Pick the PHP version for it.
- Click Add Domain. The domain shows provisioning, then active.
When it's active, its folder is ready and its DNS records point at your hosting through the CDN automatically. HTTPS follows by itself (see HTTPS and SSL Certificates for Hosted Sites).
If you hit a limit
- "Your plan covers N hosted website(s)…": buy a domain add-on or upgrade your CDN plan.
- "Your plan allows up to N subdomain(s)": upgrade your hosting plan.
Removing a domain
Click the trash icon on its row. This deletes the domain's folder and all its files. Download anything you need first. The primary domain can't be removed; delete the whole account instead.
