Storage, allowances, and running out of space

CDNShark Backup and CDNShark Sync both draw on the storage allowance included with your CDN plan — the same pool as your CDNShark Storage buckets. There is not a separate allowance for each.

Where to see it

Open Backup & Sync in your control panel. The bar at the top shows the total used against your included allowance, split between Backup and Sync so you can see which is consuming what.

What backups actually use

Far less than the raw size of your files. Content is deduplicated and compressed, and each snapshot stores only what changed since the last one, so a daily schedule on a folder that rarely changes costs very little.

If you run out

New uploads are paused until there is room. Everything already stored stays safe and fully restorable, and your other devices continue to download normally. Nothing is deleted for being over the limit.

Getting more room

  • Remove folders from Backup that you do not need protected — caches, downloads and VM images are the usual culprits.
  • Add storage from Resource Add-ons.
  • Upgrade your plan for a larger included allowance.

Uploads resume by themselves once you are back under the limit.
