Unlocking Sync on a new computer

What happens when you add a second computer depends on how your workspace is protected.

Standard or client-side encryption

Sign in and choose a folder. Everything else is automatic — the app fetches what it needs and starts downloading your files.

End-to-end encryption

After signing in you will see Unlock your workspace. Enter your encryption passphrase — not your account password. The app unwraps your key locally and starts syncing.

This is an extra step, not an error. Your account password proves who you are to CDNShark; your passphrase is what opens the files, and we never had it to hand over.

The protection setting is already decided

The sign-in screen shows the three protection options on every device, but only the first computer to connect chooses. Later devices inherit whatever the account already uses. If you deliberately want to change it, see Changing your encryption setting.

If you no longer have the passphrase

Open I lost my passphrase on the unlock screen and use your recovery code. You will be asked to set a new passphrase at the same time.
